T-Mobile adds a new Android 2.2 phone

T-Mobile just announced the new LG Optimus T which is going to be another Android 2.2 phone but this time affordable. It will be available this holidays in colors of burgundy or titanium. This is a device with much of the great features that previous versions of Android are unable to access (Voice Actions, Chrome to Phone, etc.). It’s basically a re-badged version of the LG Optimus One. It will feature Android 2.2 OS, 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera, a pre-installed 2GB microSD card, and support for up to 32 GB microSD.

The newest announcement is the LG Optimus One Andrroid 2.2 smartphone

LG is very confident and pleased to announce the P500 Optimus One to the valued customers worldwide. This is an Android 2.2 Froyo smartphone. This one comes fully equipped with a 600MHz processor and support for high-speed HSDPA 7.2 3G and an 802.11b/g WiFi networks. The Optimus One is able to support cards as large as 32GB in size. The Optimus One is expected to land first in most parts of Europe although the pricing and the carrier partners for the device have not yet been announced to all.

The well established LG has already named its newest CEO

A founding family member has been named by LG as its newest CEO after recording profit losses in its mobile phone division. According to the South Korean company, Koo Bon-Joon, as the head of trading firm of LG international will take over for Nam Yong who just recently resigned from the CEP post because of poor performance. With the surprising news of the company’s newest CEO, the stock market prices of LG rose but with a lot of record losses to recover, the LG has still a long way to go.

LG is going to launch 5 smartphones based on Microsoft’s platform

The strategic partnership formed between LG and Microsoft which had gone awry with LG Incite that sported the last generation platform experience is being forgotten. LG is going to launch 5 smartphones based on Microsoft’s platform. Though there was no major releases and undertaking LG has tried to manufacture Windows based smartphones like the LG eXpo and Fathom but still the memory of the bad experience with the LG incite fails to be erased. There seem to be a strategic partnership formed between LG and Microsoft.

LG plans to launch Optimus series with Tegra 2 processors

LG plans to launch 10 smartphones before year’s end and the Optimus series of smart devices will feature the NVIDIA’s dual-core Tegra 2 processors. LG is ranked 3rd in the handset market and has a miniscule share in the smartphone market which it wants to change. Both LG and NVIDIA have ventured late into the android market and one of the motives for the tie up between these two late entrants could be to catch up with the market leaders like HTC, Motorola, Samsung, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments. The company is aiming to cross the five million units’ sale of their smartphones with the Android boost.

LG plans to launch the Windows Phone 7 powered smartphone

LG has lost the race and is content with the number three handset manufacturer in the world. But not anymore. It plans to launch the Windows Phone 7 powered smartphone and thus will be the first to use the Microsoft’s next generation platform with this upcoming LG handset. The company is racing ahead in time to launch the set before its arch rivals Samsung and HTC, will launch their own version though it will be poles apart since they will be using the Optimus-line – which will lack a physical QWERTY.

No rest for LG as their struggles continue

As the struggle of LG continues in the mobile business, LG Electronics said that it lost money for the first time in four years. The company is now depending on the Google’s Android software to save its sales by launching phones running on the new software through 120 carriers worldwide. LG has struggled since a year following its troubles with Smartphone development. LG which is the world’s third largest phone maker posted a profit of $721 million for April-June quarter which is down from same last year which was $1.1 billion.
